So lately I've had an Idea for a photography contest.

The idea of the contest is:

- Listen to 5 songs, and get a feeling for them.

- Take a Photo that you feel best expresses the song.

- Write a short segment explaining why you believe the Photo expresses the song.

I think it would be great fun! Come on, music and photography, that's two of the best things in life!!


The 5 songs that have been picked are:

- Aqueous Transmission - Incubus
- Right where it belongs - Nine Inch Nails
- Teardrop - Massive Attack
- O Green World - Groilaz
- Blue in Green - Miles Davis

Some Rules to the contest(I know, no one likes rules, but lets make this fair):

- No hardcore Photoshoping or Image Manipulation (Levels, cropping, etc... is ok. If you can do it in a real darkroom, then it's all good)
- Use your own Photography. Do not use others work, this should be a given on dA.
- You must register with me before you submit anything.
- Anyone Judging should not submit any pictures for the contest.

So what to do? This might seem like alot, but The contest will be up for a while.

1. Send me a Note with the subject line "Contest entry"
2. Wait for a response and make sure I got you down.
3. Obtain/listen to the music via any means you see fit.
4. Listen to the music deeeeply, get a good feeling for what you are listening to, try to get the emotion from the music and put it in your head.
5. Take the picture.
6. Submit the shot to your own dA account. You need to put in the artist comments: "this shot is a submission for Music Shot Contest." As well as the Song, and Link to this journal.
7. Once you have completed all of your shots, please send me a note with all the links.
8. At this point I will update a journal, with Links to all the submissions.
9. Now........ WAIT. Then winners will be chosen.

Prizes? Well, Unfortunately I am a poor artist like most of us, so about all I can offer as a prize is a Feature in my journal for a LONG time, and maybe a stamp or something for the winners to use in their journals.

So if anyone is interested, let me know! And if you wish, please advertise this in your journal or something. It would really help word spread!

I plan to do this contest again, and hopefully next time I will be able to offer a good prize!!
